A FOOT- CIRCULATION CONCEPT IN PRINGGADING KAMPONG OF RT 01/RW VII SURAKARTA. Case Study : Kelurahan Setabelan, Kecamatan Banjarsari

ABSTRACT

 

                Pringgading kampong of RT 01/RW VII is an area of a crowded settlement that is located at North side of the Pepe’s river bank in Surakarta. The majority of inhabitants in Pringgading kampong of RT 01/RW VII is low-income level. The inhabitants used some alleys in Pringgading kampong of RT 01/RW VII as a multipurpose area.The low-income inhabitants  work  and  take care their children at some alleys at the Pepe’s river bank in Pringgading kampong of RT 01/RW VII. The low-income inhabitants’s children played and interacted in same some alleys too. Some vendors always must passed and sold something to low-income inhabitants in some alleys by foot. Beside that, some bicycles and some motorcycles which passed some alleys must be carefull.

This research was done using Naturalistic Qualitative method for  2 months. Sampling was used as the unit of exploration and the analysis consisted of 45 houses and behavior of  low-income inhabitants that located at Pringgading kampong of RT 01/RW VII and  the 4th  alley of along the Pepe’s river bank. For observation, the researcher  always explored every data and took information from some sources.  The researcher did observation in every morning, every afternoon and every night. Data consisted of log book of in-dept interview, some photographs and daily observation.  Beside that, the researcher interviewed a special person and all of the low-income inhabitants. The researcher collected data using Purposive Sampling technique, Snowball Sampling technique dan Cross Sectional system.

The result of a circulation concept showed that, generally, the low-income inhabitants in Pringgading kampong of RT 01/RW VII were always need a multipurpose area in their environment. The low-income inhabitants need a close circulation to interaction with everybody . Also the low-income inhabitants used  a multipurpose area as a barrier  to protected them from some condition. Than the circulation made of non physical factors.
